she just seems like a random girl you know from high school in a music video most of the time. its not about how she looks but how she carries herself? there's a self-consciousness there that just reminds me of people who used to lipsync to songs on snapchat. just totally aware of the camera and uncomfortable in front of it, if that makes sense.
its weird because its there in the "all about that bass" video but less so imo. she looks much more comfortable and natural in that video for the most part. you'd think it would be the opposite and as she got more experience she'd be more natural but its not the case.

i think its most pronounced when she's trying to do sexy~ stuff because the no video is really bad too imo

after watching more meghan trainor videos for analysis, i think her "style" of performing is just kinda cheesy naturally and fits much more into the cutesy/retro stuff she was doing before than sexy, more mature stuff.
