Maybe you're thinking of Nick Stahl...? I used to confuse them because of the Faculty / Disturbing Behavior similarities. They had the same look at the same time. Poor ol Nick's the one that went off the rails for a while, but I think he is doing better these days.

Yeah, Nick was very bad off. Josh, I think, just pissed off someone when he turned down the role and that someone decided to blacklist him. He's popped up and has never looked strung out once.
