We watched Parasite on New Year's Eve. I really liked it. I don't want to say "enjoyed" it because yeah... but it's a good movie.

Here are the trashings, by the way:

Once Upon a Time: It figures that L.A. loves it [from NY voters]
Little Women: Again?
1917: Gimmick
Marriage Story: It figures that N.Y. loves it [from LA voters]
Joker: Well, HE'S great, but...
Jojo Rabbit: [shrug, eye roll]

this is why the preferential ballot gives Parasite a real chance at winning BP.

its a long shot but nowhere near as long as people think.

Yeah, I guess we’ll still have to see how the rest of awards season goes, but Parasite could benefit as a sort of (well-deserving) consensus choice.

I cannot believe Adam Driver is going to beat Antonio Banderas because he yelled a lot, this award season sucks.

He yelled in one scene during a fight. To put down a great performance to "he yelled a lot" is really not fair. (That scene isn't even one that many critics have singled out as his best in the film even though it has gotten attention.) It was a layered, nuanced performance that was really excellent. This year is just crowded with a ton of incredible performances... including by Banderas.

tbf, if he wins he's going to win for the being alive scene which is the only good scene in that film

I watched parasite while sleep deprived on a long haul flight, it was good but I definitely need to rewatch bc I’m sure I missed stuff.

This awards season sucks and I’m only be in the arrivals post. I’ll avoid the actual cerimonies to prevent the inevitable frustration.

Really? I feel like this is way better than last year. BoRhap ruined everything last year.

This year is way less predictable
