The series, inspired by Barris' irreverent, highly flawed, unbelievably honest approach to parenting, relationships, race, and culture, is said to flip the traditional sitcom family on its head.

They say this while subscribing to the trend of the light skinned black mom so I'm guessing this won't tackle colorism but ok cute!

ETA - people are calling out Kenya in this particular thread and he responded but it's WEAK AF:

- if u knew me u would know how much that hurts. This BLACK family looks like mine.

He does realize that he doesn't have to only tell stories with people who look like him and his family, right?
Like Bill Cosby's real family didn't look exactly like the one in the Cosby Show even if they were the inspiration for it. What kind of narcissistic shit is that?

this was his reply after being called out in the twitter thread -

so you were called out for only having shows with lighter skinned main characters and you see that as being obligated to fulfill a quota? ok. pic.twitter.com/pNhMR3oucl

WTF!?! Also, most of that cast is either mixed or looks mixed. Kenya needs to sit down somewhere. I can’t with this assailed who think black is only okay if you’re not too dark and could preferably be viewed as black but with something else mixed in so you’re not just black. Lawd.

And what the he’ll is the while make up a family that doesn’t genetically make sense? Has he not heard of recessive genes? Black people come in all shades!! I know black people that are darker than both parents or lighter than both parents. We are our own biggest enemy.
