'Parasite' named best picture of 2019 by LA Film Critics, full list of winners

The LA Film Critics were the latest to name their best of, where 'Parasite' came on top with best film, as well as best director (I believe it was ineligible for foreign language as a result). Full list of winners and runners-up below

I think awards-wise, everyone in Parasite is considered supporting because it's such a true ensemble. Closest to a lead would probably be Choi Woo-sik.

Yeah that's true. And Choi Woo-sik did start out as the lead but then it all get spread across the cast so this is probably fair.

I’ve honestly never heard of parasite till a month ago? Was it just limited release?

Yeah I think just for a few weeks. I saw it a major chain theater though.

"Parasite" and "Hustlers" were the only 2 movies I went to the theater for in 2019. I loved both. What I dislike about movies (particularly Hollywood movies) is that they follow that three arc structure which makes most movies really predictable. Those two movies veered away from that and, on top of that, both were critical of capitalism and I love a popcorn movie who successfully criticizes the system.

"Parasite" hits close to home too because, as a Brazilian, the social disparity in display in the movie is also quite reflective of my home country.
