Not that the animal abuse isn't horrific, but considering what this guy went on to do, making this the title of the movie was... a choice

They didn't, police caught him based on the location the body was found and the security camera footage. A case can be made for the fact that concerned people worried about the escalation of violence beforehand (and Magnotta hinted at an upcoming actual murder) which wasn't taken seriously, but it's not like internet sleuths actually solved the case so this whole angle is a bit yikes to me considering an actual person ended up dead :/
Plus do we still have to maintain that angle of animal abuse -> serial killer logic siiiigh
