I have family in town with kids, so we went to see the balloons last night. Never again. :|

Edit: Been in NYC 10 years and I've never seen the parade live. Don't have plans to either.

We wound up going later-ish. We got to 72nd St around 5pm and and then finally got to the balloons at the Museum around 6:30. Entrance to the line was at 73rd, but the line started about midway down 72nd. If we ever do it again, we're going way earlier in the day.

I’m so proud of my time management this year! I did the final grocery shopping on Monday afternoon & I’m lucky to always have Tuesday & Wednesday off work. I spent Tuesday cleaning my house & all day yesterday cooking green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole & a pumpkin pie ahead of today. All that is left is to put my spatchcocked & 2 day-dry brines turkey in the oven around 12:30 PM, make the mashed potatoes while it’s in & make gravy with the pan drippings once it comes out… I even already made homemade turkey stock in my Instant Pot yesterday!

It really is! I realize I’m fairly privileged to have the time ahead of Thanksgiving to plan & organize. I cook for a living, but thankfully we’re closed for the holiday & Tues/Wed are my regular days off.

This is only my second time hosting the holiday & preparing their full Thanksgiving spread alone (I’m a chef, but my husband is of no use in the kitchen for help). I feel like movies/TV had always made it seem like a panicked/stressful all day affair right up until the moment you sit down to eat, but just spatchcocking the bird alone is saving me 3+ hrs & I’m already 6 hrs deep in cooking/cleaning which I can’t imagine having to fit into today. Grateful to be able to relax with the parade on & ONTD before the final sprint to the finish line around noon (were eating at 3ish)

My husband and I tried spatchcocking the turkey last night and it was...not as easy as the YouTube videos made it look. Oh well if it turns out bad my sides will be good. I did the cranberries Tuesday, sweet potatoes yesterday, and I’m doing the stuffing and roasted Brussels with pancetta today.

We don’t have cable TV, but hopefully I’ll find a serviceable stream online to watch with the kids. I’ve got Sister Schubert’s sausage rolls fresh from the oven & the cinnamon rolls just went it. Gonna make a cup of chai & relax for a bit for the last but of panic cleaning before my Dad arrives.

No thanks, Macy’s! If I wanted to watch a three and a half hour long parade of puffed up, aging icons I’d tune into The Irishman like everyone else!!

Haha. I watched it last night & maybe I was tired or just don't have the attention span I thought I had for 3 & 1/2 hr long runtimes, but I found myself tuning out about halfway through & only perked back up when Anna Paquin showed up onscreen for her nearly silent performance.
