i also saw gemini man and its no wonder ang went for the whole 3d, high-frame-rate thing because the plot was so damn dull. smith's acting as his clone was so bad too omg.

Last night, we saw Doctor Sleep, which I loved. After this, Oculus and Hill House, I think Mike Flanagan is my kind of horror director. The movie was a great adaptation of the book as well as being a good sequel to both the movie and book versions of The Shining, which had to have been a tough line to walk. Rebecca Ferguson was fantastic as Rose the Hat (and fucking stunning to boot), and every other actor was really well cast, even Ewan McGregor. It was a little long, but I can't think of anything I would have cut. But I swear to god, almost every big movie I've enjoyed this year has been a box office flop.
We ended up seeing four films at AFI Fest this year - Blow the Man Down, Rocks, Clemency and Bacurau - and liked them all. I'd be happy to elaborate on any of those if anyone has questions.
Tonight, we're going to see Terminator, and tomorrow Pain and Glory. Will probably check out The Irishman and The Report this weekend. And last but not least... next ( ... )

The premise of 21 Bridges makes me anxious, in a bad way. Feels pretty tone deaf tbh.
