Indie Film Release Guide: November 22nd [An ONTD Original]

This weekend, Sony brings us A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, and Disney takes over every goddamn Dolby screen with Frozen II. But of course, there are more options in theaters for you than these, and they are listed below.

The films listed are from studios other than the “Big Six” - Paramount, Warner Brothers, 20th Century Fox, Universal, Columbia/Sony and Disney. Note that some of the movies listed are in their first week or two of limited release in the USA, so it may take them a few more weeks (or months) to show up in your local arthouse theater or on VOD. Varda by Agnès

Genre: Documentary, Biography
Storyline: Agnès Varda, photographer, installation artist and pioneer of the Nouvelle Vague, is an institution of French cinema. Taking a seat on a theatre stage, she uses photos and film excerpts to provide an insight into her unorthodox oeuvre.
What you should know: Varda died in March, shortly after this film debuted at Berlinale in February.

What you should know: Gibney is an extremely prolific director; two of his more recent films include The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley and Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief.
