  • Paramount has hired Noah Hawley (Lucy in the Sky) to direct the fourth installment in the J.J. Abrams Star Trek film series. It is expected that the film will star the major players of the first three films, including Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana.
  • The third installment, Star Trek Beyond, debuted in 2016, and the fourth installment was supposed to be in production by now.
  • An earlier version was set to be directed by SJ Clarkson, who would have been the franchise's first female director. The plot involved Chris Pine's Captain Kirk meeting his father, played by Chris Hemsworth, via a time travel plot. But negotiations fell apart, and that version was shelved.
  • No plot details are available for this version as of yet.
  • This is entirely separate from the rumored Quentin Tarantino Star Trek.
