I’m so thrilled to announce: Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri will be back for more adventures... in Season Two.

I could not be more proud of what the amazing cast and crew of The Witcher have accomplished, and can’t wait for the world to dig in and enjoy these stories with us.

I'm almost excited for this but I think I just want something to fill the hole in my heart after Game of Thrones. Please let the writing be good. I don't care about acting at this point, just give me a good story.

This is such a low hanging fruit wish that is basically on the ground so you'll probably get what you're wishing for in this show, except without the constant raping.

Things aren't usually renewed before they air, right? Am I just forgetting?? LOL

not usually, but apparently Netflix execs were very happy with what they've seen + reaction to the trailer. I think the early renewal also reflects how much production time takes on a big sprawling fantasy world that leans heavy on the magic, and Netflix doesn't want like a two year gap between seasons.

the makeup/styling still looks tragique in stills, but i liked the trailer???? i'm tentatively hopeful that i will be able to find the series enjoyable, but i am attempting to lock away any actual excitement, mostly because i don't really know who the audience is supposed to be for this ( ... )

the show is based on the books, not the games.

gamer forums are such a cursed place

Gamer forums (and honestly, anything specifically marketed to gamers) really can be toxic. I was part of a small, kind, and inclusive gamer forum for years and a lot of us left when gamergaters started going after our posters (some of which worked in the industry). People who call themselves “gamers” with pride are, more often than not, a scourge.

even as someone who loved the whole series i can 100% confirm (male) fans of the games are an absolute grabage fire tbqh.

that said you can actually play them as a decent geralt who doesn't fuck everything that walks, though there's def some unavoidably awkward writing (like, iirc in the first one an elf is so moved by you completing a quest to collect 10 hunks of mutton or something she immediately wants to bone, it's...a lot, lmao.) i managed to play geralt in the first two games as a gruff but kind weirdo with a soft spot for kids + the underdog and remained faithful to triss the whole time.

cdprojekt will never live down the sex cards though.

i'm excited! i don't care about all the negative Nancys and gamer guys crying about it not following the game's plots/looks. the book material is more than strong enough to carry this whole show & it sounds like the are sticking super close to it.
