Weirdly, watching it made me motivated to start the search. I think I'm gonna start going through my insurance's list for mental health providers tomorrow. I keep saying "next year" but I still have some FSA money so if I can get in a visit in December why the fuck not.
I appreciated this episode. I feel like people on this com feel like very humble and solidly middle class bootstrap folks, but how many have experienced actual financial hardship or struggled to pay medical bills or been in a position where they couldn't rely on family or a partner for insurance coverage, or to support them to varying degrees if their health issues become unbearable? How many have become unemployed or homeless or hospitalized because of a lack of health care and resources? I don't mean to be a gatekeeper of suffering, it's just nice when someone with a wide audience can actually articulate the nightmare reality of not being able to afford the health care you need.
And tbh why are people still trying to make Anna Kendrick happen?
I love how all these american comedians make programs about the symptoms of capitalism in which they actively avoid naming what is actually going on here.
