They really shot themselves in the foot with these daemons; when they're absent for 85% of the shots and pretty much all shots of larger groups it really detaches from the show itself.
That being said me and my bf has spent two weeks discussing back and forth whether his would be a sloth or a bear.
In the last ep, when Mrs C stormed out of the room and slammed the door, they didn't even leave enough time for her daemon to follow. It really yanked me out of the scene.
You're a book reader yeah? I'm not and I think it's fine as presented tbh. We know they are there and they've kind established last episode that you can be awayish from your animal but not too far?
Also last night I 100% wished mine would be a panda bear lol
I'm with you on Dafne/Lyra. I've never seen her anything before, so I'll take your word for it on the fact that it's the mediocre writing (fucking Jack Thorne). Or maybe they consciously went with this characterization for Lyra, but...why???
And yeah, his dæmon is Ratter. They're most definitely combining Tony Makarios and Billy into one character like they did in the movie. [Spoiler (click to open)]TBH it's a smart decision for film/TV, because you care more about Billy because of his relation to Ma and Tony Costa and it makes his fate more emotionally impactful.
I've definitely heard she was great in Logan and that's why I was really excited for her casting! She's just falling flat to me so far, though, so it's nice that I can blame the writing and not a poor little girl's acting lol. It shouldn't be that difficult to get Lyra's personality right (in fact, I remember being perfectly fine with her in the movie version), so IDK what they're doing. She seems very melancholy and not the charismatic, tall tale-teller from the book.
I enjoyed this episode much more than the first one. Ruth Wilson is doing a fantastic job. I was surprised at them just throwing out big reveals in the first two episodes but I guess it works better for TV, gives you more wiggle room.
As I get older the more the precocious little kid thing gets a bit more on my nerves but I'm trying to get over it lol.

I actually chuckled at how many people at the party apparently had insect daemons last night. How cheap.

I found interesting the changes they made. I'm enjoying this.

Unlike Patronuses, though, I'd be very happy if my daemon was small and quiet, like I'd be happy with a chicken.
