I read the seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo yesterday and between that and daisy jones and the six I really hate Taylor Jenkins Reid’s writing style

Lol I did not expect that sentence to end that way.

Her writing is so repetitive, she picks one plot point she likes and she has it happen over and over and over again

I tried to read Seven Husbands but really couldn't get into it. I got about a third of the way through and had a "why am I even reading this I don't care about any of it" moment

Reading Twice In A Blue Moon now. I'm 20% in and feel like not much has happened so far so I hope it picks up :/

That was my main complaint about it. It just takes a lot of time to get somewhere. It's almost as if they DIDN'T write it.

I wanted to pick this up. The cover is cute and I like some of their books but the Jasmine Guillory rec on the cover turned me off, haha.

ETA: I just noticed it was for a different book - perhaps I'll reconsider

I keep reading her books cos I like the synopsis and hating the books.

I know Christina Lauren is two people but my God they release new books every week it seems. Have they added a new member? Buying manuscripts off fiverr? That's a thing you know.

Ready to report that Nora Roberts is somehow involved.

There are slim pickings this week but I want to read Twice in a Blue Moon.

Yesterday I finished Gods of Jade and Shadow which was pretty good. I'm only 40 pages into Blowout but it's very, dry I guess? Definitely not a pleasure read. And Overdrive won't let me log in to download something else.

I think i'm finally 2nd or 3rd in line for Gods of Jade and Shadow. It sounds really interesting but I was dismayed to see they say Mayan gods but then use Nahuatl/Aztec words when theyre completely different indigenous cultures. But I want to reserve judgment till I actually read the book.

There are better Christina Lauren books but if you still want to read it, DM me on Discord and I can email it to you.

Yeah, I usually add one or two books to my amazon list from these posts but nothing struck me this time.

Twice in a Blue Moon is not Christina Laurens' best book. It was fine but I was not enamored by the characters like I have been in the past.
I actually finished my first book of the month (it pains me to say that) and it was called Faker. BIG disappointment. It was an enemies to lovers book but the guy was a TOTAL asshole to her for the flimsiest of reasons [Spoiler (click to open)]He was painfully introverted, which SHE ACCEPTED. It was too rushed and there was too much explanation.

Oh man, I wanted to get that but now I'll pass.

Yeah. There were a lot of little things that bugged me throughout that book. [Spoiler (click to open)] She mentions she has trouble getting off with men but she's magically all good with just his KISS. It got really tiring when she kept saying she was tingling between her legs. The author also kept describing the kisses as WET and that's more gross than anything
