Martin Scorsese's next epic The Irishman just had its red carpet premiere, allowing official reviews to finally be published. In summary Netflix has a huge winner here and a major Oscar player.

Here's what a few critics have to say:

-- THR calls it beautifully crafted and anchored by tremendous performances of its three stars. Says the de-aging is pretty distracting at first, but works overall.

-- Vanity Fair says its has an arresting final act. The film's DNA should be familiar to those accustomed to Scorsese films.

-- Esquire is another pub that raves about the performances, but mentions a lot of the supporting players come and go with little impact. Calls it just short of a masterpiece.

-- The NY Post had a ton of fun with its runtime, stating the film commands your full attention and that it's never boring. Didn't like the de-aging, though.

-- The Daily Beast is another that was less than enthuastic about the de-aging but calls the film overall a titanic triumph and Scorsese a timeless legend.

More thoughts can be found at the source. The film currently has a 92 on Metacritic and a 100 on Rotten Tomatoes.
