Graham Philips (The Good Wife) will play prince Eric in the live production, opposite Moana star Auli'i Cravalho as Ariel. John Stamos has also joined the cast, playing Chef Louis

can anyone explain why ABC and Disney would use different casts for the live show vs the movie? aside from the obvious potential things like scheduling conflicts & whatnot. like why wouldn't they use this kid as Prince Eric in the movie? ultimately it's the same parent company with the same property but I also don't follow Disney stuff very closely so I might be missing something.

I know it seems super strange because both shows are using the same IP fromt he same parent company, but Disney's different entertainment divisions are kept very separate. The people who work on the feature films never come in contact work-wise with the people who work in the live shows/television division. I would bet neither division knew the other was rebooting the same property until each project was announced.

i've never watched one of the live musicals. there is something about them that really bothers me and idk what. probably just sub-par casting and bad play choices but man they irk me.

also, ursula is the hero of the little mermaid and i will stand by that until the day i die.

I didn't even know who this guy was or that they dated, so I just looked it up and it's probably because they were literal children when they dated.
