#JustMercy: A small scale judicial drama, that's more Short Term Twelve than Glass Castle! I'm a sucker for a good courtcase drama, and this checked all the right notes! @michaelb4jordan is terrific! @brielarson ruled! #JamieFoxx deserves an Oscar Nom! #TIFF19 pic.twitter.com/FWpX6qPl64

it's funny because on the side of black twitter i follow, there's this consensus that MBJ is actually not that good of an actor lol. but i haven't seen enough of his works to make a call on that

I think he was amazing in Fruitvale Station and not that good in Black Panther. So I think he can be great in the right role and with the right director

I haven't seen Fruitvale and probably won't, but I have always been a little puzzled about his success because I mostly know him from Parenthood where he seem to mumble all of his lines and I didn't think he was good.

I did like him in Blank Panther, but it's been hard to overcome that first impression enough to see a film he headlines.

I think he's a charismatic actor good with emotion/sensitivity, but I haven't seen much evidence that he'd be capable of fleshing out a stoic character in a procedural drama. That kind of role demands a lot of miniscule reactivity.

Good lord, I hope it's more Short Term 12 than Glass Castle. That was quite the disappointing comedown. Man, so many depressing death-row movies this year. This, Trial By Fire, My Days of Mercy, Clemency ... and All Rise (the movie) and Brian Banks were similar as well. Starting to think our system is really, REALLY bad.

edit: wait, this comes out the same DAY as Clemency?! Plan shit better, Hollywood!
