Kevin Hart Gaslighted Lil Nas X Over Homophobia

The comedian, who once joked he would become violent with his own son should he find him playing with dolls, feigned ignorance as to why @LilNasX weighed coming out so seriously. https://t.co/GddNUt0PGC

In a clip from Lebron James's HBO show, "The Shop: Uninterrupted", Lil Nas X was asked why he felt it necessary for him to come out last year.

While he was talking, Kevin Hart interrupted with: “He said he was gay! So what!”

Lil Nas X then tried to explain to Kevin that during his whole childhood he was taught being gay was wrong: “It’s not like it’s being forced. It’s like knowing, growing up, like, I’m growing up to hate this shit. I’m not supposed to ever like this.”

Kevin then played dumb and said: “Hate what? Hate what?”

Lil Nas X: “Homosexuality. Gay. Gay people.”

Hart: “Why? Why you gonna have to hate it?”

Lil Nas X: “Come on, now...If you’re really from the hood, you know. You know like it’s not something that’s accepted. So, if like, for me - ‘the cool dude with the song’ on top of everything to say I’m gay at any other time, then I’m doing this for attention, in my eyes...but if you’re coming out while you’re at the top you know it’s like for real, and it’s showing that it doesn’t really matter I guess.”

Kevin was trending and being dragged about it on Twitter:

Kevin Hart acting like he doesn’t know why Lil Nas X would be scared to come out is like someone who stole the thing you lost helping you look for it. https://t.co/ZmfRNMktel

Whew, the gaslighting from Kevin Hart. I keep telling y’all; trash in, trash out. Anyway, I’m so proud of @LilNasX. His calm confidence is impressive. https://t.co/eO1MpEs3B1

The gaslighting and lack of care in that Lil Nas x clip is maddening. I have low hopes for the rest of it.

Watching folks who joke and bash queer people finally come face to face with one and “what do you mean” him about his fears of coming out is trash.
