Wow. This is what Burning Man has become? I'm sad. I've never been, never really liked the idea of being filthy and dancing topless in furry platforms to trance music at night, but I liked the idea that it existed. I know corporate culture has been creeping in for years, but this is just ugh.
I don't know much about Burning Man but I know a lot of people who are really into it and Diplo flying in on a private jet full of Popeye's feels like to absolute antithesis to what they describe about the whole thing.
Back in the early '00's, for many in the tech world, burning man was almost a religion. Whole start ups would be away for the stretch of time. I've never been but I see the appeal of (what was then) a completely commercial-free zone, a place there was nothing money could buy. All was volunteer, traded or gifted. There was a lot of pushback when it became officially a corporation and started charging hundreds for passes, allowing luxury sections, etc.
Burning Man's "leave no trace" motto shouldn't leave room for the addition of "except your private jet's carbon footprint and a bunch of fast food wrappers"

Group of people with gun rushes door at @PopeyesChicken on Scott and Corder. They wanted the chicken sandwich, say employees. Employees were able to lock them out. @houstonpolice responded. #abc13 pic.twitter.com/6kTYvWRUBI
