If you are:
Very conservative Catholic - you love it and unironically hope something like this will happen.
Moderate Catholic - you take this show way too seriously and are horrified that Hollywood is mocking your religion in this way.
European and Christian history enthusiasts - love it for all the historical references, and happily watch it while eating popcorn.
Most people who have better things to do than obsess over the significance of papal clothing - WTF is going on here?
The show is both mocking and serious, when it's the norm to be either one or the other towards religion. Understand that the faith of the characters is very real and earnest. Even if they do drink cherry coke zero for breakfast.
