It’s nearing that time of the year again: a new iPhone is on the horizon. But what was once a major event in technology has slowly lost steam. Year after year it’s gotten a little less innovative and exciting yet more expensive. Writer Ewan Spence for Forbes writes about the many challenges ahead for Apple.

Sales have slowed down in not just the US, but Europe as well: “iPhone European shipments fell from 7.7M in Q2 2018 to 6.4M in the same quarter this year. That 17% drop in sales saw Apple’s share of the European smartphone market fall from 17% to 14.1% during the 12-month period.”

Overall sales are also down.

To combat the negative attention, Apple CEO Tim Cook has asked the company to stop releasing sale figures of the iPhone for now.
