I am ELATED to make history as the first trans actor to secure 2 series regular roles, leaping from #PoseFX to #AHS1984. Thank you @MrRPMurphy for the gift of playing Candy & creating my newest role on American Horror Story! I’m so honored & excited to join the @AHSFX family!!! pic.twitter.com/dRBprRUPDY

Pose fucked me up last night. Just when I stopped crying, her fucking parents showed up and I was bawling.

And then the lip sync? They really didn’t let us compose ourselves one bit.

She has some of the best comebacks on Pose

Yes!!!! I’m so happy for her. I saw critics on IG/YouTube bring up that her role [Spoiler (click to open)]ending so soon on Pose isn’t great for the actress, so seeing she’ll be on a show with a whole new audience to discover her talent, this is perfect

I did cry plenty last night but overall I’m pretty disappointed with the writing and pacing this season, I keep thinking of how certain scenes can be played out differently

Pose spoiler: [Spoiler (click to open)]I'm gonna miss Candy vs Pray Tell. Those were some of my fave scenes. Esp when the hammer came out.

But spirit-Candy haunting everyone was cheesy and took away from what should have been an emotional episode for me.

This was my exact reaction. It felt like a lazy way to explore those feelings.

I felt a little the same way, but then I thought it was a way of centering the actual person that died as opposed to everybody else. even while cheesy, when is that ever in the history media or ever again gonna be done for a trans character. this show is kinda about making good on those things. it was corny, but seeing how trans people live with that reality of it could be them everyday I kinda get why they go with that.

So much this. The first time they did it, I thought it was cheesy (but I always give pose slack for a bit of cheese, anyway). When they kept doing it, I had the same thought as you that they're centring her rather than all those around her. So, while everyone still had their reactions, she was at the heart of it rather than just the catalyst to move the plot or other characters ahead emotionally. At some point they had to confront the fact that [Spoiler (click to open)]trans women experience violence and are murdered at a rate far, far higher than the norm and I like that they chose to do it by keeping her at the centre of it and really honouring the person rather than pushing a narrative or statistic.
