Renata (Laura Dern) deals with the fallout from Gordon’s (Jeffrey Nordling) legal troubles and attempts to help Celeste (Nicole Kidman). Bonnie (Zoë Kravitz) relives painful memories from her past. (Air Date: July 7, 2019)
ive never gone bankrupt but are they allowed to just take your jewelry and watches and stuff just like that? the car makes sense, but also doesnt renata have a job? why is she suddenly completely and totally broke just bc of her husband? also the scene with madeline and her daughter and the "unhinged" thing was bad writing that was way too on the nose
the party looked like so much fun tho, i wouldve loved to go to a party like that.
ed is being a huge ass. i get hes rightfully mad at madeline but yeah he should just leave her. if you are going to work with someone to overcome something like cheating then you need to actually work to overcome it, not stay around them and be toxic and bitter and petty to get back at them.
i hope celeste doesnt continue to become physically abusive, even if mary-louise deserved that slap. i dont like the idea that victims will always be abusers themselves.
idk how i feel about bonnie and her mom. first i thought she faked the seizure but then she actually had a stroke? idk, thats weird.
Honestly I'm loving this season so far. The episodes seem to go so quick. Meryl is so good, she doesn't even seem like Meryl to me. And damn it's providing the gifs.
lmao @ the hilarious inappropriateness of throwing a disco party -- complete with The Trammps!! -- for a kid who was born in, like, 2011. Classic Renata.
So we're...actually saying Bonnie's mother has magical powers? Really?! S2 is a little late to go supernatural, especially with a weirdly stereotypical ~magical older black lady~ trope. I'm hoping we get a more literal explanation soon, I guess relating to her own husband's abuse(?) and whatever Bonnie did in the past that made her say "what have you done this time" or whatever the line was.
Ed is such a boring drip. Like, I don't condone cheating, but I definitely get it. And I'm glad we kind of acknowledged the fact that the 'he just slipped and fell' lie was kind of pointless and was just the act of a panicked moment; they would've had way less trouble if they just owned up to the self-defense and highlighted all the proof of Perry's abuse.
that's what i'm getting too. there was a moment last week where she pulled out of her grip too iirc, and then the stuff this week. though her convo with her father was really weird and cold too so idk, but that could be because he never did anything about it
It feels like the story was churning its gears a bit in places these past two eps, but also I will love this show as long as it is the movie stah borderline-overacting olympics. meryl's character is so despicable but she's clearly having a ball w/ it.
