Definitely not banning conservative politics. Hate groups and intolerance are different from other types of political positions.
as if you can be a Republican and not endorse hate speech in some way or another, lbr.

Yeah. Years ago they may have had a semblance of humanity and reality, but the association with conservatives (especially those supporting this administration) is conjoined with white supremacy.

They kind of have to put that in their for PR purposes, otherwise they risk getting jumped on by angry conservatives yelling about discrimination. (Not that angry conservatives won't do that anyway, but this statement lets Ravelry be like "No, we're not discriminating, you just have to behave here.")

a knitter's site seems like the place that would spawn headed political debates.

I'm not even joking with you, you'd have people who want to be totally self sufficent (besides their internet) learning how to knit blankets and then you'd have people in the midwest in rocking chairs and Confederate Flag Cosies.

I used to knit. I even bought yarn in Ireland. But then I forgot how to lol

It's really easy to pick back up. I go a while in between projects and always have to look up how to do basic things because I've forgotten in the meantime.
