I read years ago that it was gif like gift which is how I pronounce it because gifs are a gift

But idgaf I process it both ways no matter how people say it

i always used to say "g i f" all as separate letters in my head until the first time i saw people debating this years ago.

I say "gif" with a hard g because "jif" is what I say when I'm like "be back in a jif!" and I like the hard g better.

But Idgaf how people say it.

That’s my reasoning for my pronunciation too.

Tangentially, I’ve just now come to the realization that I sound like an old white man when I speak irl.
