i mean it sounds like it could be a stand-in for pretty much any pop-girl act that came up in their teens.

Yeah, I thought them using a former Disney kid was pretty on the nose. The Free Britney thing has been trending lately but that took off long after they wrote and filmed the episode, I don't think it's specifically inspired by her.

I remember that Miley was in South Africa filming this episode while her house burned down in Malibu. And that was back in November '18, before the Free Britney movement blew up. You could also maybe suggest that the episode was pointed at Disney, since it was obviously starring one of Disney's biggest stars.

yeah i think disney is more sinister and controlling of their little puppets for their empire.

I haven’t watched it but I read there’s a scene where she overdoses on drugs but tells the public it was an allergic reaction.

It made me think of during the middle of the Bangerz Tour, she had to cancel a few shows because she had an allergic reaction to antibiotics and was hospitalized for like a week.

in the episode she didn’t voluntarily take the drugs. her manager crushes them up and put them in her food because she was storing them as evidence against her.

Ia. There were signs way earlier than those headlines.

Ugh, same! I had this long-ish reply ready to go about how much stuff like this about Brit mostly make me really uncomfortable in a way I can't explain, but then I didn't post it. Lol

Maybe it's because I was in high school when shit when left for her, and therefore, old enough to know that it was really damn serious and not just another pretty rich white girl wanting headlines. I have no idea.

It sounds like more of just another retelling of a pristine pop idol moving on from said pristine image and the refusal of the industry to let people grow and change.
