Everyone is problematic. Especially celebrities. I don't understand why people refuse to accept that. Cancel culture has always been ridiculous but it's gotten even more OTT. Cancelling people for not cancelling other people, for associating with other people, pulling up old tweets from high school. Luckily it's kind of ineffective outside of internet outrage otherwise every celeb would be cancelled in one way or another

Honestly, "cancel culture" never really does anything to celebs. A bunch of people yell at each other on social media about it, but the celeb in question usually moves on without consequence as soon as the heat dies down.

Yes.

But I also think most people aren't beyond redemption. I'm not talking about celebs who have committed serious crimes like Weinstein or R. Kelly, I'm talking about truly minor offenses. Not everyone has an infinite knowledge of what is and isn't "problematic" and they should be forgiven for not knowing things if they truly are trying to learn or be better.

I wholeheartedly agree with this, especially since most “cancelled” celebs (regardless of how heinous their offenses are/were) don’t ever face real world consequences for their actions.

Until cancel culture turns into 'public execution via the guillotine', it's nothing.
