I'm thinking of doing a Boardwalk Empire rewatch because I never saw the last few eps of the final season and my BF hasn't seen it at all.

Yeah I think I'll make him watch the first ep tonight. He gets no say in this lol, it's such a good show.

I’ve been watching Sopranos for the first time ever, and I was absolutely loving it .. until recently. Just reached about mid season 5 and it’s starting to feel like a slog. I need to finish since there are only 6 seasons but I’m not excited about going to the next episode as I was during the first 4 seasons.

Considering going to The Wire next.

Yeah the show definitely takes a turn towards the more serious in later seasons. I still feel it’s one of the best of all time and worth the watch!

season 5 is the weakest one but 6 is really good!

The end of season 5 is so dark :( There’s still so much story left in season 6a and b for you to look forward to. i remember after watching the masterpiece episode “white caps” i started complaining to my boyfriend that we were already over halfway done with the series. he just laughed and said, “you haven’t even met some of the most important characters or plot lines yet!” I thought he was just trying to make me feel better but he was definitely right. i actually thought season 5 had some of the fastest pacing and action packed episodes, but i can definitely see where you’re coming from. i think there’s a distinct divide between the first 3 and last 3 seasons, with season 4 being the center. season 5 kind of feels like starting all over, but with a much darker and depressing tone, so i can see why you feel it’s dragging. you’re gonna get to some of the greatest episodes though ( ... )

i never got the appeal of most HBO shows tbh.
probably bc i was too young to watch them.

GOT however i'm so glad it's over bc now i dont have to "hate watch" to keep up with pop culture LOL

Same. I’m 34 so I was way too young to understand some of the themes/complexities/nuances of shows like Sorpanos/Wire when they were initially airing but I’ve recently been watching Sopranos for the first time and the first 4 seasons are phenomenal television. I definitely understand the hype now. But season 5 sadly is feeling like a slog to get through.

Never watched GOT either. Was considering but discouraged after the mass fan/critical disappointment this season. I don’t want to invest / get hooked on a show only for the final season to be the shits.

My faves are The Wire, Flight of the Concords, Barry, and Curb Your Enthusiasm.
I feel like I need to do a rewatch of Bored to Death and Mr Show (which didn't even make this list? lmao continually paid dust) to see if they still hold up.
still sad that the Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency only got one season.
