I do try to answer promptly. In today’s world, EVERYONE is glued to there phone. I scan around me at a subway station or even on the street and everyone’s head is down looking at their phone (all ages) so ignoring a text seems pretty intentional.

Also, Diplo is such an embarrassing try hard. Like, you’re 40 acting like this.

the are you mad at me text is killing me. also, people who don't respond to texts for days are rude. everyone is holding their phones/it's in their back pocket 24/7. there is no excuse.

I don’t think you understand how anxious and/or insecure people can be.

“I can’t think of anything interesting to say so I won’t reply yet in case they find me boring and stop liking me”
“I could reply now but then I have to explain why I didn’t reply before and then they might not like me anymore”
“I could say ‘x’ but then I might sound like a loser and I don’t have a good reason for not replying earlier so they might not like me anymore”
*starts replying then gets insecure about how honest they’ve been and deletes*
*thinks about it once a day for the next week but can’t think of a good reason for not replying sooner so avoids it*

And then you finally think of a good reason and/or you get the hell over it because you realise replying two weeks later is still better than just never replying.

please believe me, i deeply understand anxiety very, very well. i have had all of those thoughts and more about texting myself.

i probably should have clarified. i'm talking about things like, if i text: happy birthday! i think it would nice to get a "thank you!" or if i text: i hope you got home safe! receiving an "i did!". things like that. especially if the person is a good friend. there's still not really an excuse for that kind of thing. but i am also bitter because maybe the person who i'm talking about in my life who does these things really hurts my feelings and isn't as good a friend as i thought.
