Yes, but they also found an earlier prototype android that they named B4 (as in "before" Data, get it??) so we might see Brent Spiner playing that character.

How would that work though? Androids don't technically age so Data would like older and well, chubbier.

Data's outer appearance is just cosmetic. He could theoretically change his skin and hair to appear older. Frankly I don't know if we'll see Data at all in the new TV show, but it could be done in a number of ways and still fit into the established canon.

There's an episode of ST: Next Generation where Data creates a "daughter" android and lets her choose her outer appearance. She could have been an alien species, or human, etc. In the series finale of the show when Picard was time-shifting, he went 25 years into the future and Data had a small pot belly and gray streaks in his hair, which he'd added deliberately to appear older.

Cautiously excited about this.

Is STD S2 worth watching?

It really really REALLY is, I liked S1 but tbh S2 blows it out of the water in every conceivable way. Actually INCREDIBLE. But do watch the 'Short Trek' mini episodes first as they tie into the season.
