7 Celebrities That Have Crohn's Disease/Ulcerative Colitis

May 19, 2019 13:03

In honor of World IBD Day, I bring you a list of some celebrities (in no particular order) that have been diagnosed with Crohn's disease or Ulcerative Colitis. This is a subject near and dear to my heart, as I also have Crohn's disease!

Celebrities... they're just like us!! 💩

Shannen Doherty

Best known for her roles in Beverly Hills, 90210, and Charmed, Doherty finally revealed her Crohn's diagnosis in 1999, saying that she had kept it a secret because it wasn't very "sexy". Well, that all depends on what you're into, my good sis! 😉

Pete "Butthole Eyes" Davidson

SNL cast member and Ariana Grande's ex was diagnosed with Crohn's disease at age 17 or 18. He's not really sure, because he smokes so much weed to help with symptoms. Also, we don't all have butthole eyes, ok!

Mike McCready

Lead guitarist of Pearl Jam, he was diagnosed with Crohn's disease at the age of 21. He's had multiple onstage accidents (aka he def shit himself) due to the disease, but with the support of his bandmates and a healthier lifestyle, he's been able to manage his symptoms better. He's an advocate for health insurance changes, and he hosts a yearly benefit concert for Crohn's research in his hometown of Seattle, WA.

Matt Light

I know y'all love the Patriots! :) Matt is a former NE Patriots Offensive Lineman (whatever that means...) and was diagnosed with Crohn's during his rookie season in 2001. During his career, he says he couldn't take most Crohn's medications and was often too sick to play. He eventually had surgery to remove more than a foot of his intestine. These days, he shares his story with others to raise awareness and educate the public about CD.

Amy Brenneman

Amy is a well-known actress who has starred in Judging Amy, Grey's Anatomy, and Private Practice. She struggled with Ulcerative Colitis for years before finally having surgery, which put her into remission (wish we could all be so lucky!). Amy is a strong supporter of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, because she wants to help the millions of other people struggling with the disease. Go, Amy!

JFK

America's 35th president couldn't stop shitting! Though it was hidden during his presidency, he spent most of his life struggling with severe diarrhea. Reviews of his medical records indicate that he may have had Ulcerative Colitis, and was diagnosed as a child. Other reports say that he had IBD rather than UC.

Chuck Lorre

Known as the "King of Sitcoms," Lorre produced Dharma & Greg, The Big Bang Theory, and Two and a Half Men (among others). He was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in 1976. They say IBD can give you a good sense of humor (I mean, OP thinks she's pretty hilarious!), and that seem to be true with Chuck!
