I'm a trial lawyer and I can't watch a lot of tv/movies with courtroom scenes any more.

How to Get Away with Murder is particularly bad.

suits is definitely the worst imo (at least of the modern-era courtroom dramas i've watched) but i guess that's to be expected with a show premised on a dude getting away with practicing law with no law degree lol.

this was satisfying to watch as a lawyer (though not a trial lawyer). the most frustrating thing that hollywood commonly gets wrong are the objections that lead to nowhere and the lawyers who testify in their direct or cross examination. i'd also say that opening statements/closing arguments tend to be a LOT more boring and straightforward than what you see on screen, but i can't say i blame hollywood for changing that up lol.

the law/trial is just generally more boring (by and large) than people want it to be.

Lord that's the truth re: it being boring. Most of my friends are just in real estate law. The other one is a prosecutor, but she spends most of her days in court just waiting for people to show up so they can argue traffic violations, lol.
