I read some article about rich parts of florida (this probably exists elsewhere, this was just specifically about florida) and how they only decorate the front rooms of the giant mansions that they actually live in, and the rest just sits empty. And sometimes if they aren't careful they end up with squatters living in the empty rooms and it can take them a while to notice.
