same

I don't live in the US, but I really shouldn't have gone to college right after graduating from hs. I dropped out of my college after three years, because I struggled a lot (underestimated the work load, mentally I wasn't at my best, etc.). Now I'm at a different college and much happier, but I really regret the time I wasted and I feel like I ruined my CV.

Went to college and have used absolutely nothing I learned there in my actual job. I feel like the earliest you should be able to attend college is 20, after you’ve had some time to gain some real world experience and have somewhat of a better understanding of what you want to do in life.

I'm ok with going right after high school because no one is still going to hire you. If I had waited until 20 I would have been just fucking around. We need better career prep and college prep in high school. Everything is just focused on the sat and act but what about actual majors and paying for college? High schools really drop the ball in that area

agreed - i went at 20 and still found it a real struggle (mentally more than educationally) and can't even imagine I'd have lasted the full 3 years (in the UK degrees are only 3-year courses) had I gone 2 years prior.

I think that's why "the gap year" was pretty big for a while. Kids right out of HS went & traveled or volunteered somewhere for a year or so before College for more life experience.

I went to an Ivy- total waste of time. I could have gone to state school for free, but I got in and I wanted the experience. Hindsight.
