Imagine Dragons' Dan Reynolds asks religious leaders to condemn conversion therapy, accept LGBT kids

Mar 20, 2019 16:15

I plead with our religious leaders across the world to stand up for equality together. true equality - not empty words of love - but statements and actions thats show our LGBTQ youth that they are “sinless” and perfect just as they are.

it's maddening because my mother is sympathetic towards queer kids that get shunned by their families and can't understand it... but she'll make low key homophobic remarks towards me. I'm not out to my parents, I'm straight passing and my mom will say things like she'll see two women together on tv and be like 'i'm so glad you're not like that!' or I had a childhood friend that transitioned and my mom ran into his mom and she was telling me the story and was like 'if that was my child, the love would be conditional' and i was like F U C K . I'd love to tell my parents I'm bi, I don't think they'd stop loving me but I think my mom wouldn't like me anymore...and as an only child that would DESTROY me. so I'm not sure what to do :(

Damn I'm so sorry. That's really shitty. Do you question her when she says things like that? Maybe you can help her look at her viewpoint and see how flawed it is.

Aw, that's awesome.

This band gets a lot of unwarranted hate.

i never paid any attention to this band until ppl on that 'worst band ever' post kept going on about how if you hear a song on the readio that is just *boom boom repeat repeat* it's imagine dragons and I HEAR THEM EVERY WHERE NOW

RADIOACTIVE radioactive
THUNDER feel the THUNDER
im a BAD LIAAAAR a bad LIAAAAR

but ngl i thought it's time was actually a good song that didn't follow that formula SO

I was just talking about "conversion therapy" with a friend and I told her I didn't know if they could keep you there without your permission and she said she doesn't think they should be prohibited because "everyone should be free to go to conversion therapy if they want to". She's bisexual and doesn't believe it works but apparently it's all about "freedom". I'm just. How?

this recent rhetoric of everything is okay as long as it’s a choice is ten damn steps back. that’s how you get to shit like “i respect your right to be a nazi even though i disagree w you, love always ✌🏻”
