I mean, yeah it's probably Good Dadding to talk to your daughters about their periods so they don't feel like it's something that they should be ashamed of and have to hide.

But also I would NEVER talk to my reserved English father about my period. I would prefer to just slowly bleed out. (which I guess demonstrates why this campaign is a good idea lol)

Also I'm all for anything that helps to provide pads and tampons to low income women!

This is basically how I feel. I think it's great when Dads and daughters are able to talk about this stuff, but my Dad would have been mortified beyond belief at the mere mention of my period. As a result, so would I have been.

One of the most embarrassing moments of my childhood came when I was in 8th grade and got my period unexpectedly while wearing white jeans (my periods were super irregular, so there was no telling when it was coming). I wrapped a sweatshirt around my waist but had to call home for someone to come pick me up so I could go change my pants, and neither of my parents was home - my 18-year-old brother had to come get me.

Most awkward car ride ever.

SAME omg when I was 12 and on holiday with my dad we were in a pub and I got my period, I just asked the barmaid for a tampon but he was so mortified!

Obligatory MenAreWeak.gif

I don't watch Game of Thrones but apparently there was a scene with Jon Snow and a redhead where Jon was worried she'd be afraid of blood and she gave him a stupid look and said, "You know nothing," lol. And I recall Dakota Johnson being asked about the blood in Suspiria and she was like, I see blood every month. 🙄😂

I used to avoid any mention of periods around my dad, but then one landed me in the hospital two years ago and now I no longer give any fucks. Hard to keep it private when you bleed enough to need blood transfusions, ultrasounds, and a night in the hospital.

This is nice.

My dad was/is awesome about periods. He knows it's a natural thing and was always there when I needed him to buy what I needed. Not sure if my mom prepped him or what, but I appreciate it.

Anyone see that moron who said women only have their periods for 9mo out of the year and need like 7 tampons per period? Yikes.

The amount of misconceptions that a lot of boys/men have about menstruation is appalling. I remember someone talking about a lot of U.S. male representatives who are like grown men with wives and children just have no clue and one staffer said she actually had to explain to a grown 50 something year old man who votes on legislation about health and women's bodies all the time that when you menstruate the blood just leaks out whether you want it to or not and you can't just "hold it in".

I hope it's better now because I know that in my health classes as a kid we definitely talked about menstruation and guys were in the room too, but yeah. It's messed up and a lot of guys think it's not something they should have to know.

When I was 13, I got my period while on holiday at a beachy place with just my dad and stepsister, and when I said I didn't want to go swimming because I didn't feel well (my periods have always suuuuuuuuuucked) Dad put two and two together and came in to have a very awkward talk about periods and how he understands if I'm not feeling up for it, the whole your body is changing speech, and I about fuckin' walked out of the hotel and went to bury myself in the sand

Could you talk to your Dad about your period, ONTD?

Hell no lol. In fact when I first got my period at 13 I told my mom to either 1) not tell my dad and to basically let enough time to go by (as in years) for him to just eventually assume that I have it, or 2) she could tell him but not tell me that she did, lol. And she kept her word (thx, Mama!)
