i know it's important and shit but i'm real exhausted by narratives centered around the deaths of innocent black people by cops. you see entire shows about it, once a season in every police procedural, not to mention in real life every day in the news.

this is why black panther took off so well, it was NICE to not see us dying all the damn time in order to tell some lesson or "expose the inner workings of racism". we been knew.

let us be happy. damn.

ALSO this trailer wants me to feel for the white cop who shot an unarmed man in the back? fuck off. and then this black man's death becomes about his white partner and his white killer? with some of his daughter and her mother on the side for what, the black perspective?

i hate this. delete this post omg.

jk don't but i really hate this.

I’m a sucker for anything that’s based in Chicago, I love seeing the city I’m in be onscreen.

With that being said, I’m tired of seeing narratives surrounding cop killings of Black folks. It’s tired and it unfortunately plays out the “both sides” narrative. We’re more complex than that and deserve to have our stories be told in all their brilliance.

I love seeing Chicago on the big screen too. Seriously, every neighborhood in Chicago is different. Even during the different seasons, Chicago would be a great canvas to play with.

With that said, I'm tired of this narrative as well.

Ive heard mixed things about it. And ava has been blocking anyone that criticises it - which is just lols considering she worked in PR.

i wanna watch because emayatzy corinealdi deserves the work, but ... i can’t wait anymore black people (especially queer black people!) die. i’ve seen, i’ve heard, i’ve consumed enough.
