BR was not that good aha

This year may have been a bit light on good BP films though.

can BR pull an i,tonya and just not show up anywhere on oscar nom morning except for rami thanksssss

i watched the favourite and fuck if this doesnt win screenplay and actress. (and if oscar voters feel feisty and wanna put rachel in lead i wont complain).

(also beautiful boy is out on prime and elsewhere if youre so inclined to know)

I’m trying to imagine the weirdness that would happen if Bohemian Rhapsody gets nominated for the DGA. I bet everyone involved genuinely hopes that won’t happen.

At this point, I’m half worried BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY will show up at the DGA, naming the designated nominee as “It doesn’t matter, we loved the songs”

Bohemian Rhapsody may be able to ride its box office success, Rami's performance, and everybody's general love of Queen to a BP nom but do even its defenders really claim the directing as a standout? Even the people who like it admit it's structurally cliché and I'm sure most of the industry knows it was a mess behind the scenes.

I wonder why Isle of Dogs' eligibility is in question.

the producers eligible is pending, not the movie itself. probably trying to figure out who gets the credit?

I'm weirdly bigoted against TV/film producers. I feel like they're the least ~creative people involved in a project (like, they're not writing, acting, directing, designing, etc.) and yet they have all this veto power.

i feel the same about most (like they're the budget people and just oversee it all vaguely), but then i get biased when i think about how much love, dedication, and time david heyman has put in with the HP and now FB series as the head producer, and i think there are some exceptions.

I can't speak for all producers (or any from the shows/movies mentioned here) but they are the ones who live and breathe every project the longest. just the development process before going into production is a bitch. and then there's pre- and post-prod.

Yes they have all this veto power but it's because they are involved in every single thing that goes into a project. And it's not just a "yes or no" process. They get in there, they have to figure out what's working and what isn't (from the writing, acting directing, designing, editing, marketing, etc) and then they have to figure out HOW to fix it. It takes a lot of creativity. And this is on top of all the logistics they have to take care of. AND the initial pitching process to even get the movie approved to be made in the first place.

I'm sure these bigger companies have a lot of producers and APs and EPs who deal with all this stuff separately, but they definitely do a lot of work that takes a lot of creativity.
