MCR, Paramore, FOB, and Panic are all bigger today than they were at their peak a decade ago. They might not be on the radio but they are selling out arenas and headlining festivals.
I never really liked pop punk bc I was one of those teenagers that thought I was too cool and original listening to the Sex Pistols and the Clash and Rancid. But when I was an adult and my sister was a teenager, she liked pop punk and when she listened to my chemical romance I liked it bc it reminded me of punk in a way...I never considered them pop punk though. Idk where I’m going with this lol
Is Taking Back Sunday considered pop punk? Because I liked them when my sis introduced me to them too.
TBS was kind of pop punk but they were always lumped in with those bands that were considered post hardcore at the time. Then later on people considered them emo which I think is dumb.
I'm not even ashamed to admit how much I LOVED Jimmy Eat World. I tried listening to their music recently but it hasn't rly aged well. Same with Paramore.
That's one of the main reasons I couldn't get into it as a teen. I feel bad for the countless number of teen girls that idolized and may have been taken advantaged of by some of those losers.
