THE GENE WYATT AWARD FOR FILM THAT BEST EVOKES THE SPIRIT OF THE SOUTH - Green Book

Do you think they realize that this is a condemnation of the "spirit of the south?"

that "award" deserves to continually be given to films that showcase what a hellhole the south has been and continues to be (even by american standards)

of the speaking-to-big-societal-issues films nominated, i'm most looking forward to seeing sorry to bother you, support the girls and if beale street could talk (do roma and widows have a political angle? 'cuz i want to see them too)

for some reason, i'm not that psyched to see the hate u give (i plan to read the book tho), and obviously i'm gonna pass on green book...

blackkklansman was good in parts, but surprisingly conservative in its outlook

i also really wanted to like the rider more than i did, but still thought it was nice. i think i'm in the minority here in absolutely loving first man...

roma and widows are both pretty heavily feature politics/political turmoil, yeah

I loved First Man too. Setting my expectations low really helped and I relate well to characters who turn inward. The score and technical effects were great

yeah, i thought the way chazelle handled such an introverted, reticent protagonist was really smart and kinda daring for a movie that from a distance one would expect to be really 'rah-rah!' and whatnot...

My roomate and I (both from Mexico) were joking about how shook american white people were going to be when they saw Roma and realized Mexico City wasn’t a mud pueblo in the 70’s
