The first film is one of my all-time favs. I can rewatch it a million times.

I watched it for the first time as an adult several years ago and was shook at how good it was! it really holds up for being an older movie, such a classic

My partner watched it the first time with me and couldn't get over how gorgeous the film was, and how effective the atmosphere of horror is. I couldn't believe he'd never seen it, it was a childhood staple in my house.

I'm annoyed af that Ridleys prequel series doesn't match the aesthetic of the rest of the series. Especially Alien.

Some could make the argument that the Nostromo was the equivalent of a 16 wheeler truck, and wouldn't be fancy with high tech stuff that the Prometheus ship had, but it's a bit much. Prometheus looked like JJ Abrams Star Trek.

Meanwhile, the video game Alien Isolation did a PERFECT job of recreating the look and feel of Alien/Aliens.

I prefer covenant and Prometheus over alien 3 and 4

Same. I love 1 & 2 and Ridley's last two.

3....3 has gotten more adoration as time goes on.
There's a lot wrong with it. David Fincher disowned it, as the studio was meddling too much.

But, it's a beautifully shot film...great performances...it closes ripleys arc...

There's something cool about how bleak it is.

I'm still super salty about retconning the first Alien vs Predator events entirely. It was such a great movie.

I enjoyed Alien vs Predator and I FEEL NO SHAME
At that time it was refreshing to see a strong female protagonist getting recognised as an equal by Predators.

we're too corrupted and desensitized to be frighted by the elements in alien anymore. i saw the original for the first time recently and thought it was funny... i wanted to be scared, and remember my mom saying, "it's terrifying!!!" shit was lame. i mean it was a good film, but not frightening at all.

I wouldn't call it frightening so much as harrowing. To this day it's remarkable how much the tension (and the production design and effects!) in that film hold up imo. It really doesn't feel all that dated.

IA - the atmosphere set up - the silent ship awakening, the sleep-pods opening, the confusion of why they are awake and still so far from Earth - it's just soooo good.

Shout out to Dan O'Bannon who wrote the original screen play, and to the score composer, and the cinemetog, and everyone involved. I love Tom Skerrit's performance in this too. Everything was amazing. Encapsulated Truckers in Space and the Big Threat/Mystery does E V E R Y T H I N G for my sci-fi heart.
