So, the first three movies to kick off the fall film festival season at Venice this week, and subsequent awards season, were:

-- Damian Chazelle's Armstrong biopic 'First Man', hailed as a masterful technical achievement with great performances from its leads, Ryan Gosling and Claire Foy
-- Alfonso Cuaron's 'Roma', which many critics have said might be his best movie to date, and is a masterpiece of a picture
-- Yorgos Lanthimos's 'The Favourite' (critics also calling it his best movie to date), which many have compared to classics like 'All About Eve', called it zany and incredible delicious and fun, and have praised the three leading ladies, Emma Stone, Rachel Weisz, and a scene-stealing incredible performance from Olivia Colman

As you can see from the tweet above, tomorrow's got one of the big ones premiering tomorrow: Bradley Cooper's 'A Star is Born', as well as the Coen bros' latest. Between this, Toronto and Telluride in the next two weeks, it's gonna be a fucking avalanche of awards-caliber movies debuting.
