I’m descended from Charlemagne and William the Conqueror a few different ways, though only one through an actual wife.

Through my maternal grandmother’s line we have a few guys that were advisors to the Tudors. One was executed by Henry VIII.

On my paternal side we have Scandinavian ancestors that go back to Ragnar Lothbrok, though I don’t know how accurate that is.

Genuine question, no insult implied (I'm just interested in the psychology): while it's possible to have all those swirled together, it's not likely. Which one do you think is most true?

Also, who cared enough to do the research in your family?

Also, does it affect how you think about yourself and your family - and do you think it should?

If most of the world is 'descended' from peasants, does it make you special?

Well most people with european descent are related to William through one way or another so it’s not really special just kind of cool to see the lineage that goes back.

I’ve always been really interested in genealogy, and I did my research through the Mormon church’s records, it’s free to use and they have lots of classes you can go to, to understand good researching.

The Ragnar Lothbrok one I give the least amount of credence to, just because it’s so far back that I think lineages were probably fabricated to tie people to someone of note back then.

So Matthew Weiner managed to lay low long enough for everyone to forget what a piece of shit he is then?

Yep. I will pirate it because I love the cast and because the premise is frankly my jam, but I'm not paying a dime to support that predatory, blacklisting scum.

MTE.

This is why I roll my eyes whenever I hear that "the me too movement has got out of control!"

Barely any of these men face consequences for their harassment.

This could be interesting so I might give it a shot.

Also I'm a descendant of the Borgias (through Giovanni, the lamest one) and King Ferdinand II (not Isabella, though). Some other names are in there but whatever.
