They do, and the only difference is that newer artists fly up closer to the top since every song on an album can chart on the Hot 100 now.

it’s a county crossover song so I’m not surprised it’s not that well known outside of the US

It's the theme song from Con Air and there are actually two country-crossover versions of it that came out at the same time. LeAnn's version won.
