Critters is an 80s cult-classic in the horror genre featuring small, violent creatures from outer space. The source article details the real-life UFO encounter called the Kelly-Hopkinsville Encounter as the inspiration behind the film. Kelly and Hopkinsville are two towns in Kentucky, and the incident occurred at a family’s farm house, where many witnesses claim to have been attacked by extraterrestrials over the coures of one evening. The Kelly-Hopkinsville Encounter is so famous that even Spielberg was inspired, and he of course went on to make the classic film “E.T.”
