Celebrities Post about Turkish Election

Whatever happened in Turkey today, know that unchecked media monopolies had a lot to do with it. Think of that the next time you open a paper, turn on the TV, read the web. Don’t just be okay with one or two people (Left OR Right) controlling everything.

Someone I follow on tumblr kept blogging about how the police went into hiding yesterday. And that there were tons of gunshots going around and it sounds like a NIGHTMARE. I feel so bad. I saw on Reddit how a cop was turned around while there was rigging in the elections

Seriously, that's where his fucking tweet should've ended. A dictator getting reelected should not be an excuse for Americans to make it about themselves (while ignoring the reality of the situation in Turkey, no less).

Also, sup, fellow Polish ONTDer?

well this will surely end well

I'm Australian so my country disappoints me daily for so many reasons. Murdoch owns a huge percentage of the media here so I'm very worried about the next election (which will probably be in September or maybe May next year). Our current PM is a spineless sack of shit (former Goldman Sachs merchant banker FFS) who everyone hates but his most likely replacement is a literal fascist.

I stopped reading the news. I’m ignorant now, but much less stressed.

Of course, this is no consolation for the people who are actually impacted by this current government’s monstrous actions. Considering what the NDIS could have been for the disabled if Julia’s vision had been allowed to occur, it’s heartbreaking to see what a shambles it has become under these fuckers. Not to mention them doing their best to dismantle Medicare and welfare services while they have the chance. And it still infuriates me that Barnaby got away with illegally installing his mistress into plum government jobs because everyone was too focussed on his affair.

Damn it, now I’m mad again. :-/

our best hope is for Labor to win the next election and install an ICAC that will be retrospective to this current government. Their victory is likely but by no means a sure thing and while I have BIG problems with some of their policies and I'm a member of a very minor socialist party, I'm gonna be out there volunteering for ALP and GetUp, doing whatever i can to help get these cunts out of office. Labor might suck on some issues but if we don't get rid of the Libs they will destroy the country. It's personal for me because I have a disability and can't work - it took two YEARS to get DSP approved and I'm under no illusions about not getting thrown off it by inhuman LNP policies.

When was the last time your country failed you, ONTD?

I’m American, but I guess things have just been fucked for me since 1492.
