It's not nowhere near enough but it warms my heart seeing this many South Asian celebrities in Hollywood.

(yes, I'm aware Bollywood exist. This is still cool)

Same! I’m so excited at the thought of finally having a Pakistani-American superhero. Especially a female one bc our stories are largely ignored.

Not condescending at all! My culture and people have been reduced to terrorism and nothing more. I really hope Marvel doesn't fuck this up.

I’m sure it was a joke more than anything.

Lol he must be. I mean I hope he doesn't really believe just because they're either Pakistani or South Asian and a name in the industry that they're genuinely in the running for something like this. I didn't like 'The Big Sick' and I don't like Kumail either. What does Riz know about writing a screenplay anyway and I don't really know much about Mindy to comment on her. Any Pakistani women to involve in his joke or we just expecting Pakistani men to run with this?? No thanks!

As a Pakistani and a Marvel fan, I just want this to be done right!

Ugh, kumail is horrible. His big sick movie was so demeaning to south Asian women. Plus I remember his response to Jimmy Kimmel mean tweets, and I've disliked him since then

Captain Marvel and Ms Marvel? That’s not gonna confuse the audience at all.

In the comics Ms Marvel (Kamala Khan) is a fan of Captain Marvel, henceforth her name is inspired by Captain Marvel.

Any Marvel fans feel free to correct me, if I'm wrong.

Just for the sake of pendancy: Her name isn't inspired by Captain Marvel, she adopted Captain Marvel's old name.

Actually, it's both. She was inspired by Carol and took her old name.

But yeah. She's a legacy hero, which is rare for Marvel, and she's also a way WAY more famous Ms. Marvel than Carol Danvers ever was. Which is hilarious and great because a select few racist butthurt fanboys still insist on demeaningly calling Carol by her old name, and everyone else is like "wtf are you talking about, Ms. Marvel is a Muslim kid living in Jersey." Ooh, it enrages them. lmao.

Anyway, I'm certain in the MCU they'll skip Carol ever being "Ms. Marvel" and just have her be Captain M, and Kamala will come up with Ms. Marvel on her own. But they'll probably be called "Captain Danvers" and "Kamala" more often than not, lessening the confusion.

And I mean, Black Widow and Black Panther seem to be doing okay.
