How is Waitress? Is it any good? Me and my mom may be visiting NYC next month and we want to see a Broadway play.

omg yaassss I love both of these people!!! ♥ And I loved Waitress and The Great Comet, oop. I'm seeing Anastasia soon; no idea if it's actual legit good, but here's hoping.

The Angels in America revival absolutely deserves Scenic Design; I was legit blown away with the clever staging, and I'm often someone who doesn't like overly ~~modern designs. (That View From the Bridge revival with no set or props? Get the fuck outta here.) And I know Garf is getting tons of praise, but I'm...not sure. I love him, but I don't know how I feel about the choice to play it up to eleven the entire time. But I hope it gets some acting noms in general.

This is EXACTLY how I felt. I thought he killed the angsty scenes but I swear he shrieked at the top of his lungs throughout the whole play. Some of the humor he played too broadly. However I felt like he mostly won me over by the end. Idk. I wish he'd just pulled back a little more, took away some of the performance's impact. Prior is such a great character.

Oh, thank God, because I was starting to think I was taking crazy pills here. There was so much I loved about it, but honestly I thought there was too much yelling overall, and I guess that was a directorial decision...? And IA, it takes away from some of the impact when EVERYTHING'S AT TOP VOLUME, like "I'm the man with the knives, Harper" and other huge emotional moments. idk.

Haha everyone was raving and I like Garfield so I think I was expecting a little more overall... but he definitely had moments that really hit me in the gut in a good way, probably more than anyone else. It would've been perfect if he'd just toned it down a few notches. You're right, maybe the shouting was a directorial thing, but like, there's playing to the rafters and then there's... that. The only one whose constant yelling really makes sense for the character is Roy Cohn (and Nathan Lane was amazing). I thought Lee Pace was the weak link of the cast, but nobody was horrible or anything. Honestly the material is so good that I didn't stop thinking about it for days after (though I've seen the miniseries before, but this was the first staged version I saw). And the staging/set design was breathtaking, it needs to win all the awards. This season the plays seem a lot stronger than the musicals overall.

Yayyyy @ Broadway posts! Are you including the Spring Awakening cast in Parkland??

Your three middle pics are locked, just fyi - I don't know if there's a way to unlock them now that I've replied?! But I agree with the last one!

Anyone would have been an upgrade over last year but I genuinely like these two.

The Drama League nominations were just announced and as always, it’s a weird bunch

I stg, he has a visible dick bulge (or something very closely resembling one) in more pics than any other actor I've ever seen, lol.
