After the Abbie Cornish post I finally watched Candy which I had put off for a long time because everyone told me it was super dark. IDK, I think Requiem for a Dream has made all other drug movies easy to watch because I found Candy tolerable. A lot of that is also down to the fact that it's written from the complete wrong pov. It's about this young couple who are in love and hooked on heroine but it privileges the guy's pov even though all the really dramatic stuff revolves around Candy, the woman. Also Geoffrey Rush plays their drug connection/prof. IDK he felt so wasted. I definitely want to read the book it's based on though.

I also watched Day Out of Days, this indie movie that came out a few years ago. It's about an L.A. actress whose career is crumbling as she hits 40. It's very short and is like a series of cringy vignettes but it never really rises to being a great film even though it shows hints of it. Ironically because I feel like the main actress is only okay and nothing special.

hey btw I did end up seeing MADAME this week and I felt the same way you did! I was so in it for the romance and some bits were fantastic - I loved the dinner scene and how the flirtations went, and just that freeing scene of her in the speeding car and the headscarf, and the chemistry but I was let down. /sigh. potential wasted! it felt so unfinished...

I just watched anime this weekend lol. Finally watched My Hero Academia. Kinda annoyed at the lack of decent female characters but it was fun simple watch.

I saw Rampage, and that brought the rather 'meh' end to a rather weird marathon.

Some of it was okay but it was like a poor man's Skull Island. Which was already a poor man's King Kong 2005.

I'm amazed you sat thru King Kong 2005 because that is one of the more boring movies I've ever seen. I checked out after like 90 minutes of nothing happening.

It took me like four days to watch it because I had to break it down. Once they finally got on the island is when I liked it.

I found Skull Island to be far superior to 2005 King Kong. I went in with low expectations and was super entertained.

Rampage went from boring to semi-entertaining to fucking amazing.

It was hysterically violent omg. Limbs flying everywhere, bodies flying everywhere, people getting eaten 😂

I wish it had embraced it's lunacy sooner than it did bc I would have enjoyed it more.

That was honestly the best part. Normally you'd never see the heroes do something like that but nope. I was losing it.
