There are so many introverted, socially regressive female characters I cling to because I don't have any openly-autistic types to directly identify with. As for autism as a superpower, I actually don't have a problem with it *if* it's used by an autistic creator as positive wish fulfillment (i.e., so many people think what I have is bad, might as well use what makes me different as something they would envy) instead of "this guy has an ability that can be a service to NTs--turns out he's useful after all!"
Elementary and Grey's both attempted female characters on the spectrum, though neither was great. I kind of avoid those kinds of stories in general; I'm just so used to them being inaccurate and told in manipulative ways.

Amen. As someone that had to grow up watching their little brother struggle to write or read, this one pisses me off the most.
